Halla Part Two

June 23

We traveled with a small crew to the farmlands, about an hour outside Helsinki. The Steadicam operator was from Focus Pokus in Estonia, and my role included 1st AC duties along with helping out with various lighting department arrangements.

We used the same Sony PXW-FX9 as before, fitted with a PL adapter and rehoused Minolta Rokkor PL lenses, paired with a Tilta Nucleus-M wireless focus system.

The location was about an hour's drive from Helsinki, deep in the countryside. The concept was simple but beautiful: a farmer in a golden summer wheat field, stepping out of his tractor in a Bolt Cam–style twist shot.

I think the composition and depth came together really well, and I'm especially happy with the sharpness of my focus pulling. The camera move wasn't as demanding as the last one, so after a few takes and some carefully placed marks, getting the timing right became fairly straightforward.
