Room No. X
October 9
I’ve been honored to be part of the making of a short film with an amazing production crew. We’re in the early stages of recruiting and location scouting. The script is based on a true story that took place at Kuortinkartano. We visited the location to assess possibilities, safety, and available power sources for the production. I also took some photos and videos that might be useful for the shot list later on.
In this film, we are addressing a topic that may feel difficult, but is incredibly important to talk about. I can’t personally relate to cancer, but I can relate to trauma from my childhood. That’s why I want to help open the audience’s eyes and support Pia in telling a story about what everyday life can be like for someone who lives with trauma, PTSD, shock, or similar psychological experiences. Some of our most beautiful and happiest memories come from childhood, when we learned by exploring the world and the environment around us.
But how do children recognize danger in the unknown? What makes something truly frightening to them? What is it that gives children nightmares? Do you remember any nightmares from your childhood?
Our goal is to visualize trauma through the eyes of an innocent child, set within an inviting and harmonious environment, with subtle, childlike exaggerations. As the film progresses, we will show how Ronja struggles with her traumatic memories and her way of processing stress and discomfort, while the world around her becomes increasingly unpleasant, twisted, and distorted. This is her story.
There’s still a lot of work ahead, but hopefully this production will take off someday. The script is amazing.
