EKOspol
June 22
EKOspol - a modern and environmentally driven company specializing in sewer cleaning, high-pressure flushing, relining, and preventive maintenance of drainage systems.
We combine deep technical expertise with smart digital documentation, honest insights, and clear advice – whether we're assisting a homeowner, a housing association, or a large property owner.
The assignment was simple: create a showreel for their newly launched website, https://ekospol.se/. However, the video was to be produced in Sweden, and I didn’t have enough hands to carry heavy equipment.
I spoke with a few other photographers about rental houses in Sweden and remembered that Angel Films Finland is part of a Nordic alliance. They work closely with a company called Storyline, previously known as Dagsljus. I reached out to them and quickly got the quotation I needed to move the production forward. Great customer service and a fantastic vibe overall.
After some planning and excitement, we pushed the project further and saw the potential for a video with more impact than just a rolling background. Given the amazing lighting setup we had, we decided it was better to capture too much footage than too little. I didn’t create a formal storyboard, but I knew exactly what shots I needed, thanks to plenty of references from the client. That made my part of the job a lot easier. Some shots were largely improvised, and at one point, I found myself lying in the trunk of a moving vehicle, framing the EKOspol car behind us. It might sound dangerous, but I was safe and sound—flat on my back with the camera.
For my ultra-lightweight setup, I chose the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K combined with the DJI RS2 gimbal for smooth shots. A camera slider would’ve been too much hassle to bring on the plane and probably not cost-efficient for either me or the client. From the Storyline rental house, I got the Nanlux Evoke 1200W with a softbox for the key or ambient light, and two Dedolight 150Ws for hair light and shaping. This setup worked really well, though it could’ve been even better with one additional light for ambience—but maybe I’m just being overly critical. Either way, I’m happy with the results.
The team at EKOSpol was a pleasure to work with. It was a great experience overall, except for the time a cat peed in the car that had been loaned to me. Solved that with everyone’s favourite Wunder baum. Personally, I love these kinds of run-and-gun productions—they push you to make the most of your time and resources. With great planning comes great results. The client was happy, and that makes me happy.
